|Why I Read King James Version
WHY I BELIEVE THE OLD KING JAMES BIBLE IS THE ONLY TRUE, PURE, AND PRESERVED BIBLE FOR THE ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE
When I first met my husband, I realized he was committed to the Old King James Bible. I didn’t understand why then, but now I know how important Bible versions are in the spiritual life of the Christian. ALL BIBLES DO NOT AGREE WITH EACH OTHER. Sometimes they say the opposite. Satan has successfully camouflaged the true Word of God with a myriad of other versions that claim to be God’s word but are imposters. He therefore casts doubt so people don’t know what truth is. He is the great Deceiver and great Counterfeiter. When Satan causes us to doubt God’s Word He can weaken our faith or, better yet, destroy it altogether. With many bibles saying different things Satan has accomplished his goal as it was in the beginning in the Garden of Eden, “Yea, hath God said….?” (Gen 3.1)
There is no question that THERE ARE DIFFERENT GREEK AND HEBREW TEXTS available from which to translate what we call the Bible. The text used to translate the KJB comes from the Greek text used by the First Century Christians called the Majority text or Textus Receptus. All other English versions use the Alexandrian text (Vaticanus and Siniaticus text) corrupted by intellectuals in Alexandria Egypt to mutilate the Old and New Testament manuscripts of God’s Word.
God’s Holy Word makes a clear statement: Psalm 12:6-7 The words (not thoughts or ideas) of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Either God “preserved” His Word or He is a liar. If we do not have His “pure” words TODAY then He is a liar. If He is a liar then our faith, our hope of eternal life is vain. (I Cor 15.19) The question we must ask ourselves is: 1) Has God preserved His word and 2) if He has where is it? Only ONE Bible can be right, pure, and accurate if God is to vindicate His Word of keeping His Word pure.
This is, in a brief synopsis, the content and proof of the discourse to follow. Our King James Bible has a long history and much information is available. I will try to make the following as simple as possible. Even though it is a bid lengthy I believe it is well worth the time to learn the truth which others before us have given their lives to make available to us.
Will the devil succeed in destroying the Word of God from this earth? NEVER!! The Bible says: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Matthew 24:35 The Word of God is quick and powerful. This is why Satan hates it. It cuts him to pieces.
Check this verse; over 95 percent of all corrupted versions tamper with it.
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the
Word, and the Holy Ghost;
If that verse is messed up in the book you call “The Bible,” then you know you’re looking at a translation that came from Satan’s mutilated Alexandrian manuscripts. Also beware of Bible footnotes. They often favor the Alexandrian texts.
Now that you know the difference, Satan can’t trick you again. Let’s be about our Father’s business. In the following information I will provide proof as to why I believe the claims made above are true and accurate.
Bible versions are like so many vital issues in our lives. Satan is continually presenting anemic substitutes for the vibrant living gifts God provides to sustain us:
1. Whole grains – God created whole grains for us with all the
vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to nourish our bodies.
2. Christmas – The world celebrates Santa (same letters as Satan) instead of our Saviour.
3. Easter – The world seeks the bunny instead of the risen Christ & the empty tomb.
4. Marriage – Instead of committing to a lifelong relationship in
marriage the world finds self-gratification
Upon what is the Christian’s foundation built? God’s love letter to us, His Word. From it, we derive our strength. It is the basis for everything we do and believe. In Psalms, God promises to preserve His Word forever. Ps 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Ephesians 6:11-17 outlines our strategy against Satan himself. The only weapon we are to use is the sword of the Spirit , which is the Word of God. Naturally the Bible would be the focus of Satan’s attack on the believer. Satan presented us unsuspecting sheep with not just one, but a myriad of devitalized, watered down books that claim to be Bibles. Let me explain.
I believe the Old King James Bible is THE ONLY true, pure, and preserved Word of God for the English speaking people. I would like to approach this subject from 3 points: 1 – the roots of the King James Bible contrasted with ALL the other modern day bibles, 2 – the translators, the texts, and the revisions, and finally, 3 – the brilliance of the King James Bible.
Early Bible manuscripts came from one of two kinds of texts: those preserved by the Jews (the Byzantine or Syrian text) and those coming from Alexandria, Egypt (the Vaticanus and Siniaticus text). The King James Bible was translated from the pure, uncorrupted texts of the former. You might recognize other textual names like: the Traditional Text, Received Text, the Majority Text, or the Antiochan Text which originated in Antioch. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Acts 11.26c Approximately 90% of all extant (existing) manuscripts belong to this family!!! Despite Satan’s attempt to ban, burn, banish and batter God’s Word down through the ages, God has marvelously and miraculously preserved His Word from destruction. This is why! Romans 3:2 tells us the oracles of God, the Old Testament, were entrusted to the Jews. The Jews cherished the highest awe and veneration for their sacred writings which they regarded as the ‘Oracles of God.’ They maintained that God had more care of the letters and syllables of the Law than of the stars of heaven, and that upon each tittle of it, mountains of doctrine hung. For this reason every individual letter was numbered by them and account kept of how often it occurred. In the transcription of an authorized synagogue manuscript, rules were enforced of the minutest character. (A Manuel of Church History by Newman) Although very few manuscripts survived down through history, Jewish scribes involved in transmission of the Scriptures obeyed seventeen strict Talmudic rules. Copies intended for use in the Synagogue were to be written according to precise rules, and with the most minute attention to accuracy. Any copy which was found faulty or damaged was to be destroyed. When a new copy had been made, and its accuracy tested, the old manuscript (especially if it had been in any way damaged) was destroyed or consigned to a lumber-cupboard. (rubbish bin) This practice accounts for the disappearance of all the early manuscripts, but it is also a guarantee of the accuracy of those that survive. (The Story of the Bible by Kenyon) Early Christians living between 500-1000 AD, the Masoretes, were Jewish scholars whose life work involved the transmission of the pure Hebrew Old Testament text. They too followed the Talmudic rules and even added more to them.
No universal set of rules was ever devised for the transmission of the New Testament text, but it is quite evident that great care was exercised. Of the 5000 Greek New Testament texts extant (still existing today), 99% agree with the KJ text. During the Dark Ages of rule by Rome, the true Christians, the Waldenses had the truth unadulterated, and this rendered them the special objects of hatred and persecution. Here for a thousand years, witnesses for the truth maintained the ancient faith…In a most wonderful manner it (the Word of Truth) was preserved uncorrupted through all the ages of darkness. (Which Bible? by Fuller)
In a small capsule, this is how the Majority Text, the Received Text was preserved down through the ages until the 1600s when it was finally translated into our present day King James Bible, also known as the Authorized Version.
All the other versions stem from the corrupted texts from Egypt. (Egypt is always a type of the world) In conjunction with his attempt to destroy God’s Word in a physical way, Satan used another, more subtle device – that of textual corruption. You might recognize these textual names: the Alexandrian Text, Vaticanus Text, Siniaticus Text, Latin Vulgate, or Septuagint. These account for only 10% of extant manuscripts. These manuscripts were all corrupted over the years by scribes who acted as editors rather than copyists. They took it upon themselves to alter the text where they thought it required changing. Most of the corruption took place during the first couple of centuries AD at the Alexandrian catechetical ‘school’ in Egypt. They held to a speculative, philosophical, and allegorical interpretation of the Scripture which looked for a mystical meaning to Scripture. The bitter fountain which springs forth from the new bible versions flows from the devils who ‘seduced’ the scribes. Drinking from the stream of spiritualism has infected these scribes, who in turn contaminate the pages of scripture with ‘doctrines of devils’ (I Timothy 4.1). The stream spills over blotting their ‘bibles’, washing away key words and diluting the ‘blood’ of Christ. The ‘doctrines of devils,’ set forth by the new translations, are a mirror image of those reflected back from the still and stagnant pool filled by today’s New Age channeled entities. (New Age Bible Versions by G. A. Riplinger pg. 403) Origen (185-254 AD) was one of the worst of the corrupters. He frequently changed Scripture by a process that ‘changed the text to what you think it should be,’ conjectural emendation.
These texts lay dormant until the 1800s when two Englishmen, the
Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort, used them, laboring
for 28 years, to produce a critical Greek text of the New Testament.
They both have deep roots in the occult. As a Cambridge undergraduate,
Westcott organized a club and chose for its name ‘Hermes.’ The
designation is derived from ‘the god of magic…and occult wisdom, the
conductor of Souls to Hades…Lord of Death…cunning and trickery.” (New
Age Bible Versions by G.A. Riplinger pg. 400) Here are a few examples of
their beliefs taken from their personal writings. I quote Westcott
himself: No one now, I suppose, holds that the first 3 chapters of
Genesis, for example, gives a literal history…I could never understand
how any one reading them with open eyes could think they did. Another
statement -I never read the account of a miracle but I seem
instinctively to feel its improbability, and discover some want of
evidence in the account of it.” Hort states, But the book which most
engages me is Darwin. Whatever may be thought of it, it is a book that
one is proud to be contemporary with…at present my feeling is strong
that the theory is unanswerable. Another quote – Westcott…and I have
started a society for the investigation of ghosts and all supernatural
appearances and effects, being all disposed to believe that such things
really exist, and ought to be discriminated from hoaxes and mere
Satan has succeeded in promoting their corrupted Greek Text as the true and accepted Bible text, used by ALL other versions of the Bible. These perversions include:
1. deleting references to the blood of Christ
Over 8000 changes are cataloged between this corrupted text and the Received or Majority Text used for the Old King James Bible. Here is one example
From this you see the watering down. Note the strength in the KJV Names? A brief study of New Age vocabulary recognizes the more generic names that can be used for any godhead. The Hindu name for their god is ‘The One”. More recent publications of the NIV change God’s Name to “the One”. It separates “Christ” from “Jesus” forty three times, and removes 64,000 words from Scripture!!! The NKJV changes “Son” to “Servant”, “Comforter” to “Helper”, “end of the world” to “end of the age”, and omits “Hell” 30 times. It also refers to the NU-Text in NT footnotes. This stands for Nestle-United Bible Societies, again a corrupted Greek text. Those footnotes only serve to confuse and cause doubt in the heart of the reader about the very Word of God.
Look up Act 8:37, “And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God”. In many versions the verse is totally missing, the Gospel in a nutshell. Other versions have it footnoted, saying it wasn’t in the best manuscripts. That means the corrupted Westcott & Hort manuscripts. But it is in the Majority Text manuscripts, truly the best ones. Check out Daniel 3:25. Remember the three Hebrew men in the fire with the form of the fourth is like the Son of God? or is it like the form of a son of the gods? That could be any false god.
If you wrote a book and others took it upon themselves to change it to suit their agendas, what would you think? What do you think God thinks about this? For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. Rev 22:18 Three men who translated these other versions became dumb, unable to speak for NO apparent reason.
Now let’s discuss the sterling character of the translators commissioned to translate the KJB. July 22, 1604, King
James announced he had selected 54 men to translate the new Bible. These men were scholars, yet ordinary men with
the highest integrity, brilliant, noble men. Fluent in several languages besides the original Hebrew and Greek, they
were bound together by the conviction that they were dealing with the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of
God. No one living today could compare with them. “Many modern ‘translators’ come up to a word, and in a footnote
have some other rendition of it. Well, the meaning of it is uncertain, perhaps, to these men…but these men who
translated the KING JAMES BIBLE knew their cognate (sister) languages well…A word may not be clear, or maybe
the word is what they call a ‘hapaxlegomenon’ (used only once in the entire Bible)…The translators of the KING
JAMES, who knew Arabic, Persian, Aramaic, Coptic, and all the various cognate languages, could go to these
languages and understand very clearly. But
the men living today, because they don’t know these cognate languages as
well (they don’t know fifteen languages like Andrews for example), just
throw up their hands and say the meaning of the Hebrew is not certain.”
(Defending the King James Bible by D.A. Waite) The men were divided into
six groups meeting in three locations. They each translated an assigned
portion of Scripture, then evaluated each other’s work. By the time the
Bible was complete in 1611, each passage had been independently
scrutinized fourteen times. It was translated, providentially, at a time
when the English language was at its zenith. Their intent was to write
in the language of the common man. The English of the Authorized Version
is the finest specimen of our prose literature at a time when English
prose wore its stateliest
Some folks think it is more difficult to read. The KJB is rated on readability at a 5th grade level, the NIV at an 8th grade level, and the NAS & NKJV at a 6th grade level. The Anglo Saxon KJB words are usually 1 and 2 syllable words. It is the perfect book to teach a child to read. Read chapter 2 of In Awe of they Word.
Points to ponder -
The King James Bible was completed in 1611, just a decade before the Pilgrims landed on our shores. Do you think God wanted it here for our great country? The Great Awakening occurred because the King James Bible was sown in the hearts of the people. None of the new versions have brought revival.
…MY HEART STANDETH IN AWE OF THY WORD. Psalm 119:161.
1 – The King James is its own dictionary. Matching words identify the parallel verse, which provides the definitions! This was actually taught by Bishop Lowth in the 1700s. The context defines the word.
2 – The King James readily sticks in our mind, magnifying itself for easy memorizing.
alliteration (repetition of the same sound):
sense rhyme (words which contain some of the same sounds or letters):
The KJB ties words together…seek not ye
what ye shall eat or what ye
shall drink, neither be ye of
I find the KJB very easy to memorize. Our family just finished a passage in Psalm 37. Verse 32 was a snap – The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
Infants are also preprogrammed to learn language & prefer 2 syllable words, ‘mommy’ and ‘daddy.’ Words with the est and eth endings draw a child’s heart. It is more reverent. God is talking. Consider – Lovest thou me? or Do you love me? Are you hearing from God or listening to a soap opera?
3 – The KJB unlocks the keys to other languages. The ‘est ‘and ‘eth’ endings match other languages. The KJB is God’s international bridge to reach a world now clamoring to learn English. New versions bring confusion. Read chapter 12 of In Awe of thy Word.
4 – The KJB matches meter for balance and readability.
Contrast with the NIV.
This is just a smattering of examples from the thousand+ page volume, In Awe of Thy Word by Gail Riplinger. I could go on for hours enriching your heart with the incredible beauty of the King James Bible.
Conclusion – A multitude of verses promise that God will keep and preserve His Word forever. We know Satan is the father of lies and wants to destroy everything that is good and right. In this life I want to please and honor God in all I do and say. Just knowing how Westcott and Hort perverted the other versions caused me to put down my NASB. The more I read the KJB and learn about it, I more I treasure it. I don’t have to wonder if I have the right translation. I don’t have to doubt its authority. I know I have the pure and preserved Word of God.
Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his
help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and
praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth:

All these books were authored by Gail Riplinger. Her web address is www.avpublications.com. She was a professor
at Kent State University. When her students came to her for counseling, she witnessed to them and shared from God’s
Word. Gail found many came back confused and dismayed. One young man asked if Isaiah 14 referred to Lucifer or
Jesus. His bible called Lucifer, the morning star. When God only put Lucifer’s name in the Bible once, that is a
significant change!!! Others had trouble with security of the believer. The key lay in their use of perverted Bibles. This
sent her on a six year, 6 – 12 hours per day study of Bible versions. She was not a devoted King James user at the time,
but her quest brought her to no other conclusion.
D.A. Waite wrote another series on the King James Bible. My son, Jonathan, took advantage of a weeklong KJB seminar at Fairhaven Baptist College taught by Mr. Waite.
