Wholy Thoughts

In the Beginning, God created all manner of food for our good, our pleasure and sustenance. What a Good God we have! He delights to bring us joy in so many areas of life. Consider the delicious fruit trees in The Garden! Imagine succulents, begging to be tasted, ripe nut trees, veggies and herbs of all description. The Original Garden Salad needed no washing or dressing with flavors popping with every crunch!

God has given us everything we need in life to be healthy: physically, spiritually, financially, socially, mentally, thus IN EVERY WAY! We find the best things many times are very simple and free for the taking, but we have choices. Satan wants us to choose the ‘junk.’ Jesus wants to give us ‘life and health.’ The ‘junk’ is an upfront ‘pleasure,’ easy to obtain, cheap, tasty. God’s way is many times harder, requiring tedious preparation, self discipline, abstinence. (Take the time for real food instead of junk food.) The Devil lies & deceives. In the end, the ‘junk’ brings sickness, pain, a broken body & spiritual shipwreck.

God (Who is Jesus Christ) in Psalm 16:11 says: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. This verse promises that God will show us THE path of life. To walk that ‘path of life’ one must make ‘choices.’ It is not a broad way, but a path. With HIM is fulness of joy & pleasures for evermore! Wisdom says, ‘I want that path,’ but where is that path?

In Jesus’ discourse in John 6, He reveals Himself as the BREAD OF LIFE,  a bold claim that He is the Son of God. The Bread of God is a person from Heaven, and He gives life, not just to the Jew, but to the whole world. A few chapters later, John 14:6, Jesus stated, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh until the Father, but by Me. So Jesus Himself is The Path, not my good works, not my church membership, not another person, nothing I can do, just Jesus! (If my good works earned me a place in Heaven, then Jesus needed not to come!) To go to Heaven, I would need to be perfect, because God can’t let sin into Heaven. That will never happen. The penalty for sin is death, my death, separation from God in Hell for eternity. Romans 3:23 says For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. So something has to happen so it seems as though I am perfect.

Then came Jesus! As The Son of God Himself, Jesus is perfect. Because He loved me so much, He paid the death penalty for me (and everyone)! He died on that cross, shedding His perfect Blood for my wretched, sinful soul. By asking Him to forgive my sin, repenting (turning away from it, agreeing with God that I am exceedingly sinful), I, by faith, asked Jesus to come into my heart.

Jesus took my sin and exchanged it for His righteousness. Thus, now God sees not my sinfulness, but Jesus’ righteousness. He paid my death sentence on the cross. Now I have His righteousness, His perfection, opening the Door to Heaven for me. Oh the great, awesome love of Jesus! Romans 10:13 promises, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. You see, Jesus really is who He says He is ~ The WAY (the one and only way), The TRUTH, and The LIFE (THE way to life eternal) Friend, acknowledge your sin, be willing to turn from it, ask Jesus to be your sin substitute and save you, as well!

Obtaining the best thing in life, really is eternal life! Don’t leave earth without it. We are all going to die one day. I Timothy 6:19 describes Biblical storage ~ Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. Ask Jesus to cleanse your heart & save your soul. “… lay hold on eternal life.”

Our bodies end up here, in a cold, lonely cemetery. Where will your soul be? Hope it is Heaven. You can know for certain. Jesus is THE WAY!  Trust Him!
