                    December UPdates

WOW, too many topics, not enough time this week at least….

First of all, thank you, our amazing customers, for another sweet year, providing you with our great line of products. We love our Co-op friends; look forward to greeting you in our store, at other events, even chance meetings around town. 2020 promises to be another super year! Debbie Deitz arrived in Alaska. We will capitalize on her gifts with another annual event and a series of classes. Keep reading…

  •   CHRISTMAS EVENTS at Independent Baptist Church of Anchorage, 1801 E 68th: If you would like to            attend our church’s special services, come this Sunday, the 22nd at 10:30 for our Christmas Cantata, a musical play call Christmas on the Air. John & I with most all our children & grandchildren will be participating in the choirs, as actors or both. Not your typical program, but a sweet twist from an ‘animal’ perspective.

  •    CHRISTMAS EVE is our annual Candlelight Service at 7 pm. My bell choir will ring, too.

Both services will be live streamed at www.ibca-alaska.com as well. But there’s nothing like being there in person!

STORE HOURS CHANGED for the rest of the month:

 * Saturdays the 21st  & 28th ~ due to our final Cantata rehearsal & another event, we will be open from 3 to 5   both Saturdays.

* Tuesdays the 24th & 31st ~ early hours, 10 to noon.

* INVENTORY REDUCTION SALE ~ Come during any of these above times for 15% off anything, except Prairie Gold & Harvest Mills. Sales on the Sizzle Pots & Click Clack sets apply. Bosch Sale applies until the end of the month… see the attached flyer here.

* Normal hours resume in January.

  • SPROUTED WHOLE GRAIN BREAD ~ Saturday, January 4th at 10 AM. Start 2020 with a renewed vision to eat more healthily. Experience sprouted grain, so easy to prepare & digest. We teach a simple method to incorporate into your kitchen routine. Most folks with gluten digestive issues transition easily to our sprouted baked goods. Enjoy bread, pizza, hot cereal & cinnamon rolls during our 3 hours together.

  • DEHYDRATOR CLASS ~ Tuesday, January 14th at 6 PM. Going through the basics on drying grains,       beans, seeds, nuts, veggies; learn the benefits of preparing and preserving foods. Using our Sizzle Pots,               we’ll also whip up  several recipes from last spring’s POWERHOUSE PANTRY EVENT, Debbie’s originals, of course:

  • A Rye, Bean & Vegetable Casserole

  • Chickpea & Quinoa Salad

  • Ancient Grain Banana Bread

These recipes include several unfamiliar grains, a good excuse for me to step up & use them.

Please note new fees for classes in my home: $20/person, $30/ couple, add children for $10 each.

* Debbie of Wholy Homemade, Marchell of Amazing Grains, and I are partnering to provide Homeschool families with a series of HOMESCHOOL INFORMATIVE COOKING CLASSES.
        * Our mission is to feature fun foods, all kids will enjoy, while teaching cooking/baking skills. We also want to encourage health and nutrition featuring real food, Wholy Living’s specialty. These are true life skills, skills for a healthy life!  Taste the ‘take home’ samples from each class.
        * With Debbie’s teaching skills, expect full-fledged classes, complete with a notebook and homework. Add to the notebook each class. Get ready, your students will be ready to show off their newly acquired culinary skills. This will be time well spent!
        * Once each month, January through April, beginners meet in the morning and experienced bakers in the afternoon. Parents are encouraged to attend the class with your child.
        * The Menard Sports Center commercial kitchen can accommodate a good size group, but we are limiting the class size.
        * Open the attached flyer for class topics, dates & pricing here.
        * Call or email me to enroll your student(s). After January 7th, we will open registration to the local home school districts. If you pay us directly, add 2.5% sales tax. School district direct payments are exempt from Wasilla City taxes. Refunds available up to a week prior to class.
        * Our plan is to develop a full home ec cooking course, if these classes go well. Keep us in your thoughts & prayers.

SPRING EVENT! What topic interests you? Time is of the essence to begin planning for our 2 day Wholy Living Event. What would you like to learn about? Please respond with your ideas! Debbie wants to have a direction. If you haven’t come yet, determine to make it happen this year!
