                    February Updates

Greetings, Here are our 2020 visions for Wholy Living …

 One of my 2020 goals is producing a MEALS in MINUTES cookbook. All ready have a good batch of recipes notated!
 Debbie Deitz & I listened to suggestions & ideas ~ brainstormed & decided to venture out with a new format. (What a blessing to have Debbie back in Alaska!) Our 2020 class vision evolved (yes, evolution does occur in a limited sense of the word). Debbie & I both felt too overwhelmed to move forward with the home school classes at the Menard Center, we announced in the last UPdates. So we combined the homeschool hands-on plan with a more flexible schedule. Instead of a ‘set class’, we are moving into a monthly MAKE & TAKE OPEN HOUSE. All are welcome, including budding cooks & bakers, to these Open Houses! Please shoot me an email or call with your intent to attend so we can make adequate preparations. Come summer we will reevaluate & make adjustments as needed.

MAKE & TAKES

Open House for busy folks

  • Come when you can & see what’s cooking.
  • Bring your apron, plan to get your hands dirty!
  • Instructions, recipes & ingredients will be ready for you to assemble.
  • Our goal is to keep it simple, healthy & fun. All are welcome, all ages that want some fun time in the kitchen or help with ideas & recipes for their families. We want you to be comfortable dropping into our kitchen to get help in yours.
  • Saturdays from 10 to 4. Note, we will want to stop cooking by 4 (in other words, please don’t come at 4 and expect a full blown ‘class.’) Come by 3 for the ‘meat of the class.’
  • $20 per person + a ‘Take Out’ cost, to be determined at each M & T.

Saturday, February 8th ~ FOR the LOVE of PASTA
  • Debbie loves creating various flavors & shapes. Along with basic pasta, try a colorful pasta with dehydrated vegetables. Expect a couple of different sauces & Italian bread, too!

Friday & Saturday, March 20 & 21 ~ Resurrecting Ancient Grains for Today.
  • “Bible and/or ancient recipes from classic cultures”. Let’s focus on Biblical foods, foods proven through time from different ancient cultures to be healthy, whole and real. Then incorporate these foods into today’s busy lifestyles.

  • Since it is a few weeks prior to Resurrection Sunday, we will incorporate new food ideas for that Holiest of Days.

  • Do you prepare any traditional family recipe that use grains, nuts or legumes for Easter/Passover? Please share them. We would love your contributions to the Event &

Saturday, April 18th ~ GRAINS as MAINS – MEALS in MINUTES
  • A full freezer frees time & energy for a busy spring! Turn your Powerhouse Pantry into Meals Ready to Eat, Wholy Living Fashion.

Saturday, May 2nd ~ SALADS GALORE
    • Bring your own jars or use ours, make ahead salads to enjoy as the main or side dish. All produce cleaned in our Kangen water tastes delicious, retains freshness days longer, and removes pesticides. Yum, Yum! Don’t forget the bread with sprouted grains of course!

Saturday, June 6th ~ SNACKS on the GO!
    • Get ready for the summer ‘run.’ Eat expensive processed packages or make your own healthy version. Granola bars, Mini entrees, Trail Mixes, it’s all good & good for you!

    Monthly BREAD CLASSES

In between our Make & Takes, I’ll teach a monthly bread class. Request a special kind of bread class. Will do my best to accommodate. These are my tentative plans…

    • Tuesday, February 11th at 6 pm ~ BREAKFAST BREADS – Beth’s Favorite Scones, Over-Stuffed Banana Bread, Orange Blueberry Muffins, Biscotti, but BYO Coffee
    • Tuesday, March 10th at 6 pm ~ CLASSIC BREAD – our Whole Grains 101 intro class. Enjoy our ‘homemade rolled grains cereal,’ bread, pizza & soup. Take home a plate of cinnamon rolls to bake for your family.
    • Saturday, April 4th at 11 am ~ Grammy’s Killer Bread & experiment with a new soup recipe from the March Event!

Along with our MAKE & TAKES and monthly Bread Classes, Mark Your Calendars:
      • The week of March 16th ~ launch our Spring Co-op Order Cycle
      • Friday & Saturday, March 20 & 21, Wholy Living’s Annual Event ~ RESURRECTING ANCIENT GRAINS for TODAY
      • Friday & Saturday, March 27 & 28th, all homeschoolers, don’t miss this opportunity to connect with many like minded families. Attend the APHEA Convention at the Muldoon Assembly of God. Come visit our table!
      • Monday, April 6th ~ Co-op order due to me for pick up the first full week of May

I may include helpful snippets from our Pastor in the monthly UPdates, with the hope it might meet some spiritual need in your heart.

        Pastor McGovern’s New Year’s Message ~ Living God’s Will in 2020

Hopefully the newness of 2020 is still on the forefront of your heart. May this be the beginning of a new era, a closer walk with God for you & yours.

Our Pastor, always an inspiration, shared insights into Living God’s Will & Staying there. He used Joseph in the OT, as a spring board…

        1. Joseph lived a life of obedience to his father, his masters. In so doing he obeyed God.

        2. God appeared to Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, his 3 predecessors, but God only appeared to Joseph in dreams.

        3. Even as a slave, captive in a foreign country, Joseph, in extreme circumstances, obeyed with faith. Everything will turn out right. If you don’t know Joseph’s life, read Genesis 37, 39 – 50. It will captivate your heart! In one day, Joseph, the prisoner, rose to Prime Minister of Egypt!

        4. Here are the principles:
        a. God’s will finds me as I obey His revealed will for me, thus the title, Living God’s Will, not finding God’s will. Proverbs 16:9
        b. God arranges details years in advance to accomplish His Will.
        c. Walk by faith, keeping Jesus first, and watch God do more than we could ever ask or think!
        5. Hindrances to Living God’s Will
        a. Sin, like Moses striking the Rock
        b. Bitterness
        c. Lack of faith
        d. Disobedience
        e. Not prepared. I need to challenge myself to stay in The Word & Prayer. Work on your children for them to be ready for God’s best for them, too!

May the Lord bless you in 2020 as you seek Him.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 2
